LIMASSOL MUNICIPALITY ANNOUNCEMENT FOLLOWING NEW RESTRICTIVE MEASURES
In this difficult period for our country, the Mayor and the Municipal Council of Limassol state that they will continue to responsibly and sensibly support the most vulnerable groups of the population and to assist the resumption of local business operations and job retention in every possible way. At the same time, public health protection is strengthened by adhering to health protocols and taking all necessary preventive measures in all public places. Simultaneously, the Municipality is preparing for life after the COVID-19 crisis, so that together we can embark on a course of recovery for the benefit of the whole of society as soon as possible.
Based on the Decree issued by the Minister of Health dated 08/01/2021 (referred to as the Quarantine (Determination of Measures to Prevent Spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus) Decree (No 2) of 2021) and with a view to protect the health of residents and of the city visitors and to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), the Municipality of Limassol informs the public of the following, which will remain in force until 31 January 2021:
1. All Municipal Services continue to operate as normal. However, restrictions are imposed and the appropriate protective measures are taken, including limited access to Municipal buildings. In order to avoid inconvenience, the public is invited to limit their visits to the strictly necessary.
2. The public can receive information and contact the relevant departments of the Municipality by contacting our call centre at 77777788.
3. Museums, Theatres, Libraries, Cultural Sites as well as the Zoo will remain closed to the public. Additionally, all playgrounds located in the Multifunctional Seaside Park, the Public Garden and other municipal parks will remain closed.
4. Cash desks will continue to operate as normal. However, the public is invited to proceed to any payments online at the Municipality’s website (www.limassolmunicipal.com.cy ) via JCC. Also, the Municipality of Limassol informs the public that the deadline for the payment of the refuse, professional and business premises license taxes, as well as for the payment of charges related to the cleaning of plots, for which the deadline has been set for 30.12.2020, is extended until 31.12.21 without the imposition of any penalties. 5. Technical Department – Permit Applications
All relevant applications can be submitted and permits will be issued at the entrance of the Town Hall on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9:00am–1:00pm.
A competent officer will be there to collect applications. Applicants will then be informed by text/ telephone or fax or e-mail about the amount to be paid and the method of payment. Once the payment is done at the Municipal Cash Desk next to the Town Hall, applicants will then present the relevant receipt at the entrance of the Town Hall so that the Services send them a copy of the submitted application either by email or by fax. It is understood that if it is required to submit amended plans concerning applications which are already in progress, these plans will also be submitted at the entrance of the Town Hall, indicating the number of the file and to whom they are addressed.
The above measures were taken based on the decisions of the Council of Ministers and the relevant instructions of the competent Ministries. With these measures, the Municipality implements the above decisions/ instructions for the protection of both its citizens and employees. The measures are subject to change depending on the developments and/ or the instructions that will be given by the Central Government.
