Transferability and dissemination of SUMPORT projects results – Synergies with other projects

In the framework of the SUMPORT (Sustainable Urban Mobility in MED PORT cities) project, which is co-financed by the European Territorial Cooperation Program INTERREG MED 2014-2020, the informative seminar entitled “Transferability and dissemination of SUMPORT projects results – Synergies with other projects” was held on Monday, 2 December 2019 at the Kapetanios Odyssia hotel.
During the event, reference was made to the project in general and its objectives as well as to the 2 pilot projects implemented by the Limassol Municipality. The first one relates to the design of a bicycle route that would link the two existing routes ending at the Limassol Marina (east) and at the vertical road (west) to the new port, in combination with a station for tour buses. A section of the bicycle route was designed and constructed as part of the redevelopment of the road north of the New Port by the Department of Public Works. The second one relates to a viability study requiring the use of a simulation model for the creation of a maritime transport service.
Subsequently, extensive reference was made to the sustainability study entitled “Urban Maritime Transport for Limassol – Building on Sustainable Transport Policies for the Future”.
Then, the Limassol Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and the Public Bike Sharing scheme were presented.
Finally, the actions and results of the CIVITAS DESTINATIONS and CIVITAS PROSPERITY projects, in which the Limassol Municipality participates as a partner, were presented.
