Limassol Mayor and Municipal Councillors visit the Adult Day Care Centre construction site on Filellinon street
The new building complex destined to house the Municipality’s adult day care centre, the aim of which is to significantly upgrade the services provided to the elderly, is expected to be completed by August.
The Mayor of Limassol, Nicos Nicolaides, visited the site where the adult day care centre is being built on Filellinon street (former Cine Volos area), in order to be informed about the progress of the ongoing works. The Mayor was accompanied by Municipal Councillors, as well as the Secretary of the Council of the Pattihio Adult Day Care Centre, Dinos Kafkallias.
According to the briefing of the architect, Giorgos Demetriou, the €1.5 million project (building complex and equipment) is expected to be delivered in August 2021.
The project is co-financed by the “European Regional Development Fund”, the Operational Programme “Competitiveness and Sustainable Development” – priority axis “Sustainable Urban Development” of the 2014-2020 programming period, National Resources and Municipal Funds.
Nicos Nicolaides expressed his satisfaction because, as he stressed, the establishment of the centre strengthens and adds to the infrastructure related to the social services of the Municipality, while expressing the belief that both the residents of the area and the residents of the wider area of Limassol, will avail themselves of the centre’s programmes. The Mayor pointed out that in addition to the main goal, which is to improve the services provided to the elderly, the adult day care centre will also cover an array of needs. Specifically, he said that the centre will host exhibitions, theatrical performances, lectures, events, screenings and other events.
It is noted that the Centre will operate various physical exercise, entertainment, education and other elderly-related programmes in order to encourage senior citizens to actively participate in all aspects of social life.
The adult day care centre will include a meeting and dining area, reading room, library and computers, administration office, medical support office and a short-term resting area, toilets including for people with disabilities, a kitchen and storage. There will also be an outdoor covered sitting area with natural ventilation and lighting.
