Reduction of rents and rights of use by Limassol Municipality for the period of January to March of 2020.

Limassol Municipality during a recent meeting of the Municipal Council, has approved reductions to all businesses that were forced to suspend their operation due to the Covid-19 pandemic decrees issued by the Ministry of Health. The reductions apply to the following:

A. Rights (rents) for the use of business premises owned by Limassol Municipality

The reduction on the right of use (rent) will be calculated based on the number of days that each affected business suspended its operations and will reach the 50% of the period that was compulsorily closed, as per the decrees of the Minister of Health, on the understanding that the affected business will pay the reduced rents/rights of use within thirty days from the date of approval of the reduction.

In the restaurant and café businesses that were providing delivery or fast food service, a reduction of 50% pro rata on the reduction that applies on the businesses that were not operating at all.

B. Permit to use pedestrian way/square etc for the purpose of outdoor food service

For the period that the affected businesses were closed there will be no charge at all.

For the period that the affected businesses were able to function and for the space of time that are obliged to keep a distancing arrangement for their chairs and tables, they will be allowed a reduction of 40% on the charge per square meter that is allowed for use (based on the agreement of the Municipality with the business).It is clarified that for any provisionally  allowed  extra space this will also be charged with the reduction of 40% on the initial agreement.

Appeals must be accompanied by all relevant supporting documents by the 30th of April 2021 and will be subsequently examined by the relevant service of the Limassol Municipality.

The necessary supporting documents for examining of all the above reductions are:

  1. Confirmation by a Certified Accountant/ Auditor verifying the period that the specific premises were closed, as well as its use per the government decree.
  2. Confirmation by the respective professional association with regards to the use of the premises (where this is applicable).
  3. Certificate from the Social Insurance / Support claim / Approval of subsidy due to shutdown of operations.
  4. Additional clarifications that may be considered necessary by the Municipality.
