Limassol Mayor is satisfied with the outcome

The Limassol outdoor market is back in business with increased precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. The Mayor of Limassol, Nicos Nicolaides, stated that he is satisfied with the outcome since everything went smoothly and everyone complied with the strict rules in force. The Mayor visited the market where he inspected and was informed regarding the observance of the measures that had been announced for the safe and smooth operation of the market.

Opening the market under all the appropriate precautionary measures for producers and consumers is one of the main goals of the Municipality of Limassol. Hence the fact that the issue was discussed in several meetings last week, during which the Mayor of Limassol called for strict measures to be applied in outdoor markets and for all protocols and instructions to be observed. In this regard, it is reported that the Limassol Municipality, in a relevant announcement for the operation of outdoor markets, urged the public to use personal protective equipment such as face marks and disposable gloves. At the same time, the Municipality highlighted the need to maintain a distance of at least 2 (two) metres between consumers, while the entrance to the market was monitored by officials of the Municipality, so as not to exceed the maximum number of visitors allowed. People belonging to vulnerable groups, people over 60 years of age and people with disabilities were served before 10a.m.

In his statements, the Mayor thanked all those who contributed to the smooth operation of the market, the services of the Municipality, the Police, the producers and especially the people who visited the market for being disciplined and following the rules.
