Kick off in April in the “Football field of the Eagle” in the parish of Apostle Andreas.

The football field in the parish of Apostle Andreas in Limassol will definitely be handed over next April, a project that will upgrade the quality of life in the neighbourhoods of the city. This football field (known to the citizens of Limassol as the “Ffootball field of the Eagle”), is  constructed in a Turkish-Cypriot plot, on the west side of Georgios Averof  street, near Sperchios street, in Limassol. 

The works of the particular project were inspected today by the Mayor of Limassol Mr. Nicos Nicolaides and the President of the Cyprus Sports Organization Mr. Andreas Michaelides. They were accompanied by municipal councilors as well as by Mr. Stelios Stylianou, who is a member of Cyprus Sports Organization.

In that regard, it is noted that according to the contract that was signed last March  the cost of completing the project is €894.752,75 plus VAT, with Cyprus Sports Organization undertaking a subsidy with a grant to the amount of €740.000.

Both the Mayor of Limassol and the President of the Cyprus Sports Organization expressed their satisfaction with the progress of the works of the project. It is worth mentioning that in the neighbouring large piece of land that was acquired by the Municipality, a parking place will be constructed together with a green area, a pedestrian way for exercising  and a playground with exercising instruments as well. Mr. Andreas Michaelides announced that the Cyprus Sports Organization will also contribute for the construction of the playground.

It is noted that plastic turf will soon be installed on the football field and football matches and training sessions of Division D teams will be held, while a FIFA certification will be ensured. The construction of stands, fencing, locker rooms, a medical room for first aid administration, sanitary facilities, infrastructure for the disabled is at an advanced stage. At the same time, the works related to the lighting of the stadium, their sprinkler systems as well as other electromechanical installations are progressing. "Upgrading the neighborhoods of Limassol is no longer an announcement. It is carried out with specific projects and with a specific plan and

design ", stated the Mayor of Limassol, who thanked the Cyprus Sports Organization  for the support it offers to the specific project. He ended by saying : ”We are looking forward to the implementation of other projects in Limassol, which is the European Sports City."
