“Police House” to operate in the heart of Limassol

10-11-2020

A new police station of great symbolic and substantial value will be housed in a building located on Anexartisias street right in the heart of Limassol as a response to the increasing demand for more effective policing in the area. The first Police House (which is expected to be up and running by the beginning of the following year) will operate with 15 community officers and eight officers who will patrol on bicycles. The House will serve citizens on a 24-hour basis to enhance the public’s sense of security and to show the intentions of the competent authorities to prevent and deal with delinquency.

The establishment of the Police House was announced following a meeting between the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Ms Emily Yiolitis, the Chief of Police, Stelios Papatheodorou and the Limassol Mayor and members of the Municipal Council at the Town Hall. The meeting was also attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Public Order, Dr Louis Panayi and was followed by an on-site visit to the building that will house the new station.
