Taxes fees reductions Limassol Municipality

Based on the decrees of the Minister of Health, the Municipality of Limassol has decided at a recent meeting of the Municipal Council to proceed to the following fee reductions for companies that have been forced to suspend their operations due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. The reductions apply to the following:

1. Refuse Collection Taxes (with the exception of residential premises to which the same charge will be imposed as in the previous year).
2. Fees related to licenses for the use of premises for business activity (Business Premises Licenses)

Reductions will be calculated on the basis of the days that the businesses were closed according to the relevant decrees, on the same basis of reductions that were adopted by the Union of Municipalities of Cyprus.

Due to the fact that in 2020 the reductions were made only for the first period of business suspension, the Municipality of Limassol will grant the reduction rate that should have been granted for the second suspension in 2020 together with the reduction of the third suspension in 2021. Reductions apply to businesses and professional premises as they are listed in detail in the explanatory table.

The affected companies are called upon to file an objection in a timely manner and prior to the expiration date indicated on the relevant invoices sent by the Municipality of Limassol. All objections must be accompanied by all necessary supporting documents and must be submitted to the Municipality of Limassol in order to be examined by the competent Committee.

The supporting documents required for the examination of all the above reductions are:

1.      Certificate from an approved Accountant/ Auditor confirming the period during which the specific establishment was closed, as well as its use by virtue of the decree.

2.      Certificate from the relevant professional association regarding the use of the establishment (where applicable)

3.      Certificate of Social Insurance/ Financial aid application/ Approval of grant aid due to suspension of operations

4.      Additional clarifications as deemed necessary by the Municipality.
