24 hour emergency service with a second repair crew

The Mayor announced today the reinforcement of the innovative 24hour response department for the service to the constituent with a second crew. As it was characteristically emphasized by the mobilization of a second crew, the Municipality enters a new era of service to the citizen. As it was explained, these two crews will intervene and handle incidences that need immediate intervention on a twenty four hour basis and will be equipped to undertake work such as cleaning, repair and maintenance. The objective, he said, is to respond directly to issues concerning our city and to anticipate the needs of the citizen.

As it was explained by Mr. Nicolaides, the two crews will be staffed by two pairs of handymen and the public will be able to contact the particular Service at the number 77777788 or on the mobile application #DimotisLemesou. The Service will receive the calls immediately and will forward them through an application to the two Municipality service crews who will attend to the matters directly. Calls that need specialist work will be referred to the relevant departments for resolving.

Referring to the main works that will be done by the crew, he pointed out that among others the following will be included:

• Collection of dead cats, dogs and other animals or birds.
• Collection of stray dogs.
• Removing materials and objects from the road surface and cleaning (i.e. oil, bricks, concrete, and other building material, glass etc.)

• Pruning trees or shrubs that obstruct road signs...

• Repair of sign posts.
• Removing banners and posters from streetlight poles, traffic light poles and otherr locations.

• Investigation of complaints with regards to discharging waste water in the streets.
• Repair of dangerous pot holes on road surface and pavements and removal of branches and trees that obstruct the movement of pedestrians and movement vehicles.

Objective of the Municipality of Limassol is the continuous improvement and mobilization of the Municipality’s machine in such a way that will achieve directly and effectively the solution of daily problems that affect the constituents.
