500 Easter parcels of Love by the Limassol Municipality

A total of 500 Easter parcels of Love were prepared by the Municipality of Limassol and will be offered to an equal number of families that are in dire need, through the Social Grocery Store for the Holidays.

This was stated by the Mayor of Limassol Mr. Nicos Nicolaides who visited today the Social Grocery Store and was informed for the work that is carried out by the staff of the Municipality as well as volunteers, in the preparation of the above parcels. The Mayor at the same time expressed the wish that sometime in the future there will be no need for Social Grocery Stores, stressing that as long as there is a need for even one of our co-citizens to be supported by these institutions the Municipality is determined to operate the stores within the framework of its social policy. He also thanked all those who in whatever way helped in the whole effort and noted that the Town Council decided that this year the Easter parcels are offered in memory of Efpraxia Anastasiou.

“Our town and our country, stated characteristically, are going through another difficult Easter this year, difficult holidays. Through a number of aspects. It is the confinement, the lockdown and all that is brought about by these. The Municipality of Limassol through the Social Grocery store once again supports our constituents that are in need of it. More than five hundred  parcels of love will be donated to families to have a more pleasant Easter. I would like to thank all our co-citizens, who supported and participated in this charitable project, in groups or individually, for the preparation of the parcels of love that the Municipality is offering. These actions show that we are a goodhearted city and I want to congratulate and thank all those who are behind this campaign in an active way.

First of all I want to congratulate and thank the Municipal Council, the president of the Committee for the Social Welfare of our Municipality, the employees of our Municipality who are at the service of our constituents on a 24 hour basis , and the many volunteers, who without their help nothing of what you see could be materialized. We hope that one day, there will be no need for the Social Grocery stores. However, as long as there is a need for even one of our co-citizens to be supported by these institutions, the Municipality of Limassol is determined to operate these and other support institutions, within the framework of its social policy”

On her behalf, the President of the Committee for Social Welfare Ms. Athina Spyrou, mentioned that the delivery of parcels that started will continue until the end of the week, describing the response of the members of the Municipal Council as touching in the way they face the matter with great sensitivity, as well as the response of the citizens who widely support and reinforce these efforts. She reminded that the parcels of Love are not only given to our co-citizens who are in need during festive periods, but explained that this contribution by the Municipality is a daily practice in response to the needs of some of our co-citizens.
