Limassolians affirm their support and solidarity with Lebanon

The Limassolians’ response to the Municipality’s call for collection of dry and canned foods for people affected by the deadly explosions in Lebanon is overwhelming. This shows that our people care and are willing to help and support the people of the neighbouring country who are going through a very difficult period.

The Social Market where the collection of dry food items is being held was visited by Limassol Mayor, Nicos Nicolaides, who welcomed the immediate response of our citizens, stating that in general our people has suffered and is still suffering from tragedies and knows how to respond to other peoples’ tragedies.

The Mayor also stated that the aim of this campaign is to help the nearby country in every possible way and pointed out that another reason for Limassolians to support the Lebanese people is the strong relationship that our city has with Lebanon, adding that the Lebanese community residing in Cyprus has greatly contributed to its economic development.

Concluding, Nicos Nicolaides mentioned that the Municipality is considering other ways and actions to support Lebanon, noting that this is why the Municipality is in contact with the relevant government services.
