Sustainable transport in Limassol. Exxonmobil offers electric car to Limassol municipality
ExxonMobil delivered to the Limassol Municipality an electric car, within the framework of its corporate social responsibility, over a ceremony held today at the Town Hall.
The General Manager of ExxonMobil in Cyprus, Mr Varnavas Theodosiou, handed the Mayor of Limassol the keys to the electric car, in the presence of members of the Municipal Council, Officers of the Municipality and Mass Media representatives.
The Mayor thanked the company for this commendable act and for demonstrating high levels of social sensitivity at a time when we all have to save and conserve energy to protect the environment by reducing usage of energy resources and gradually eliminating pollutants emitted from vehicles. The car will be used by the Municipality’s cleaning services in areas where a small flexible vehicle is required.
On behalf of the company, Mr Theodosiou mentioned that this zero-emission, zero-noise vehicle, in addition to being economic and reliable, is perfect for transportation in the narrow streets of the Limassol historic centre and will be really useful to the Municipality.
He further mentioned that energy is essential to modern life and that ExxonMobil plays a crucial role in meeting the economic needs of society, laying the foundation for a healthier and more prosperous future. At the same time, he added, the industry is confronted with challenges related to the protection of the environment and must address climate change problems and it is in this context that actions similar to today’s one, for the sustainable transport of the Municipality’s crews, take place.
