Suspension of bulky/ garden waste collection services
Within the framework of the strict restrictive measures imposed, the Limassol Municipality, in order to comply with the decrees and protect the health of the public and the staff of the Municipality against the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), announces the following:
As of Monday, 30.03.2020 and until further notice, the Municipal Health Services will stop collecting bulky/ garden waste and the public is urged to stop disposing such waste for collection by the Municipality.
Local Authorities’ Health Services in charge of the above tasks have been deemed essential for the control of the pandemic and should focus on tasks such as disinfection, household waste collection etc., in accordance with the relevant decrees issued.
It should be reminded that uncontrolled disposal in open spaces is subject to prosecution under the Waste Laws of 2011 and 2016 and is fined with €200 for individuals and €500 for companies. These amounts are multiplied and can reach up to €4000.
Citizens are urged to demonstrate a high sense of social responsibility, keep in their premises any bulky/ garden waste and regularly check the Municipality’s website and social media for any updates on measures/ instructions.
