Decisive and coordinated response to the pandemic by all Limassol stakeholders

The Limassol Municipality is putting into place a permanent mechanism to monitor and coordinate actions to prevent the spread of the virus. This initiative was agreed upon during a meeting convened by Limassol Mayor, Nicos Nicolaides, with all stakeholders and city officials.

The Pandemic Coordination Team, which will be staffed by representatives of several city bodies, will be responsible for:

• monitoring and coordinating all actions related to dealing with the pandemic in the coming months. 

• the immediate, objective and valid public information on any issue related to the pandemic. 

• the promotion of control protocols and procedures based on scientific data and recognized standards, in order to prevent the spread of the virus at facilities and events in the city.  

• the development and implementation of mechanisms for the control and supervision of measures in all fields of activity and especially at meeting points.

• the ongoing communication with competent government authorities and in particular the Ministry of Health as to coordinate actions and conduct diagnostic tests 

“The creation of a permanent mechanism and the elaboration of a long-term crisis management plan show our determination and readiness to deal with the pandemic effectively and to keep Limassol a safe destination for everyone”, Limassol Mayor, Nicos Nicolaides, stated after the meeting. He further stressed that in cooperation with various city bodies, officials and strategic partners, Limassol will be implementing responsibly all protective and precautionary measures for the safety of citizens for as long as necessary.
