Limassol Municipality steps up measures against Coronavirus

2-04-2020

The Limassol Municipality, in order to protect city residents from the pandemic, has stepped up measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 and support those in need. In addition to the measures already in place due this health crisis, the Municipality announces the following:

  1. The disinfection of spaces considered to be sources of virus transmission (e.g. bus stops, waste bins etc.) is gradually being expanded to all city districts and will be carried out by specially equipped staff of the Municipality.
  1. The Municipality’s Social Market, in addition to its daily operation, is currently preparing Easter packages for the vulnerable, which will be delivered on 10 April.
  2. Cultural events are being live streamed in collaboration with the Pattihio Municipal Theatre. The events are broadcast live and constitute part of the action “Stay home with Pattihio – supporting the artists of our city”. More information can be found on the Municipality and Pattihio Municipal Theatre websites.
  3. Teleconferences were held with representatives of the Russian community and the Limassol Intercultural Council, while more teleconferences with organised communities are being planned.
  4. Practical support is being given to animal welfare associations when it comes to shelters and stray animals.
  5. In cooperation with the Association of Psychologists, social workers and psychologists offer specialised support to those who need it and do not have access to such services due to the restrictive measures.
  6. Traffic wardens are increasing their patrols to ensure adherence to the measures that have been taken with reference to public areas.
  7. The Municipality’s emergency call centre continues to support Limassol’s vulnerable groups. If you need help, you should contact 77 77 77 88 daily from 08.00 to 14.00.

It is hereby reminded that the measures announced by the Municipality on March 24 are still in force.
