For their part, the citizens that attended the meeting submitted their own proposals and raised a series of questions regarding the final configuration of the roads.
As mentioned during the presentation of the project by the consultants, all environmental roads will feature sidewalks, on-street parking spaces, meetings spaces, greenery, urban equipment etc. Environmental roads will also be designed taking into consideration people with disabilities.
Additionally, it was pointed out that the basic design principles include strategies for the prioritisation of the needs of residents, the familiarisation of residents with the urban space as part of their living (small meeting places), the safe use of the road network by all users, traffic management and road signage (one-way transit areas, parking areas, bus stops, low speed limit, etc., increase of greenery by means of tree planting and installation of urban equipment (speed bumps, benches, waste bins).
Regarding greenery, it was mentioned that this will be maintained and reinforced; trees will be planted on all sidewalks of a width of 2.5m or greater, while smaller trees will be planted on narrower sidewalks. Overall, it is estimated that a total of 500 trees will be planted.
