Rotary Club of Limassol - Kourion donates exercise equipment for the disabled to the Limassol Municipality
The Rotary Club of Kourion – Limassol has donated to the Limassol Municipality on Monday, 3 June 2019 five pieces of exercise equipment for wheelchair users and people with mobility difficulties within the framework of the Club’s social offer. The equipment was placed on Limassol’s linear seaside park.
The Mayor of Limassol, Mr Nicos Nicolaides, thanked the Club in his speech and said that “this is a gesture of solidarity and support towards our fellow citizens with mobility difficulties and sends a message that the right to participate is a fundamental right for everybody”.
As stated by the Chairman of the Limassol Rotary Club, Mr Ioannis Michalakis, “This is part of the Club’s decision to do something for charity every year. The Club proceeded to purchase five pieces of equipment after consulting with the Limassol Municipality on where to place them”.
Speaking of the Club’s work, Mr Michalakis explained that “every year, following the unanimous decision of the Club’s members, we proceed with the execution of a project. This year, our project related to the purchase of 5 pieces of exercise equipment for wheelchair users and people with mobility difficulties”.
Finally, the President of the Pancyprian Organisation for the Rehabilitation of Disabled People (P.O.R.D.P. Limassol) thanked the Rotary Club for its offer and referred to the efforts made by the organisation to promote and mobilise people with disabilities, to help them live independently and support them.
