The Mayor of Limassol, Nicos Nicolaides, condemned in the strongest manner the vandalism at the Köprülü Mosque, stating that “phenomena of this kind promoting xenophobia and racism are foreign to us as we are an inclusive society that supports and relies on mutual respect and cooperation”.

The Mayor, accompanied by City Councillors and the Director of the City’s Historical Archive, visited the mosque to inspect the progress of the work carried out to restore the damage done by malicious acts. In his statements outside the mosque, Nicos Nicolaides stressed that “we will do everything possible to prevent violence, anti-social behaviour and xenophobia wherever they come from, as they pose a risk to social cohesion”.
