ADDITIONAL PROTECTIVE MEASURES AGAINST THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

The Limassol Municipality, aiming at protecting the health and welfare of its residents and visitors and containing the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, in addition to the measures already in place, informs the public that as of 24 March 2020 at 6.00p.m., the Municipality will also apply the following measures, in accordance with the relevant Decree of the Minister of Health:

  1. The Municipal Garden, the Multifunctional Seaside Park (Molos), the Olympic Coast and other public meeting areas such as parks, playgrounds, open-air sport facilities, squares, picnic areas, beaches and marinas are closed to the public.
  2. Any form of open markets, bazaars and street vending is banned.
  3. The Easter bonfire tradition of “Lambradjia” is also banned and any materials (fuel, timber etc.) collected will be removed by the Municipality.

Furthermore, the Limassol Municipality announces the following:

 

  1. Public parking lots located along the coastal road will be closed on weekends and public holidays.
  2. The Municipality will disinfect all municipal premises and public spaces as well as bus stops, waste bins etc. in an effort to prevent the virus outbreak. 
  3. All citizens are invited to double-bag their household waste to avoid the dispersion of waste before and/ or during its collection.  
  4. All citizens are invited to settle any fines online through JCC. At the same time, the additional 50% charge on the fine following the 15-day payment deadline shall not apply to people who do not have access to the internet.
  5. The public is invited to consult regularly the webpage containing preventive measures and other relevant announcements with reference to the COVID-19 pandemic that has been created specifically for this crisis. The webpage can be accessed via the Municipality’s website (www.limassolmunicipal.com.cy).

The above measures are in line with the Council of Ministers’ decisions and the relevant instructions of all competent Ministries. By adopting these measures, the Municipality implements the above decisions/ directives to protect both its citizens and employees, while these measures may vary depending on developments and/ or any instructions given by the Government. 

Citizens are urged to demonstrate a sense of social responsibility and to regularly check the Municipality’s website and social media for any updates on measures/ instructions.
