Cultural Fund – Municipal Cultural Activities supported by Limassolians

The Cultural Fund was set up following a Municipal Council decision and will be implemented in cooperation with the Limassol Coordinating Council of Cultural Associations. The Fund was established in the aim of providing subvention to the City’s cultural action, thereby promoting its further development.

Limassol is in the throes of an unprecedented cultural revolution. The Limassol Municipality, in order to encourage this cultural movement, has set up the Cultural Fund. With an annual subscription starting from €60, citizens can contribute to the events of our city and further enhance the cultural life of Limassol.

The Supporters of the Cultural Fund will be individuals or companies that will support this venture with their financial contribution as mentioned above. The list of names of individuals, companies and organizations supporting the Fund will be permanently posted on the Municipality’s website. This action will also be sealed with the right to use the Fund’s logo on all their promotional material for a period of twelve months. We do hope that the Cultural Fund will become synonymous with the collective participation to the common cultural asset.

Subventions will be awarded in three different categories as provided in the terms and conditions of the project and will relate to cultural events, the purchase of services and equipment and publications and research in the field of culture.

Specifically, the objectives of the Cultural Fund are:

•         To enhance the cultural development of Limassol by providing grants to institutions, associations, foundations and other groups active in the field of cultural and based in Limassol.

•         Promote culture as a vital aspect of the daily lives of Limassolians.

•         Promote culture as a kick-starter for creativity and employment.

•         Provide the opportunity for these bodies to implement quality artistic and cultural events, actions and projects that will be realised on either a short or long term basis.

•         Level up the said events through the provision of resources.

•         Provide stakeholders with the opportunity to level up their organisation by purchasing equipment necessary for their activities and actions.

•         Promote research in the field of culture.

•         Promote dialogue between citizens through Arts,

•         Promote full transparency in the selection of beneficiaries for which a special committee has been set up.

As part of this initiative, the Limassol Municipality aims to promote the concept of “Corporate Social Responsibility” with the aim of finding financial resources to promote culture. The aim is to enable entities (individuals, corporations etc.) to enhance activities aimed at culture, preserve our cultural heritage and support Art in general.
