16-12-2020

The Limassol Municipality has entered into a non-profit strategic partnership with the social association “Funraising”, which has been helping families in need for a decade. The first step of this new partnership is the concession of a municipal property to house the Association which has been founded on the voluntary offer of its members and has been supporting and mentoring about 200 families in Limassol. Through the Association’s contribution, the basic needs (food, clothing and footwear), learning support and after-school care for children, we well as scholarships, are covered. “We want to give all children equal opportunities. To cover their basic needs and equip them with skills to navigate the world on their own”, said Melina Schini on behalf of the Association.

“Funraising is not just a place where clothes and shoes are collected and where some children are helped occasionally. It is a movement, a philosophy and a perception of life, it’s the definition of social solidarity and volunteering”, said the Mayor of Limassol, Nicos Nicolaides, during a visit to the Association together with the Deputy Mayor and Members of the Municipal Council. The Mayor further stressed that the goal of this partnership is to “create synergies and to enhance the benefits provided to the society of Limassol” The Funraising’s work will be supported by the Municipality’s Social Market, Social Welfare services and specialised scientific staff. “This is the Limassol we want. In all modesty, responsibility, seriousness and with all due consideration, the Municipality will support the efforts made by the “Funraising””, noted Mr Nicolaides.
