Fytidio Sports Centre Agreement between CSO, Limassol Municipality and CUT

2-12-2019

The tripartite agreement with reference to the renovation of the Fytidio Sports Centre - GSO was signed today at the Limassol Town Hall, with all three parties involved being confident that the project will be delivered to the public within 18 to 24 months.

Following a €1.5m government grant, the Limassol Municipality, CUT and CSO agreed to bring the Limassolians’ vision to fruition by breathing new life into this long awaited project that will transform the GSO’s current dismal picture of abandonment.

The agreement was signed today at noon by the Mayor of Limassol, Nicos Nicolaides, the CUT Board President, Dr Panicos Philippou and the CSO President, Andreas Michaelides.

After many years of silence and abandonment, the Fytidio Sports Centre - GSP will come back to life, Mr Nicolaides said, adding that the site will be repaired, maintained and supplemented with new infrastructure and “re-enter the life of the city and its citizens, whether these are working people or students”.

With this agreement, he continued, the Municipality and the CUT will manage the sports centre for a period of ten years, renewable every five years. The CUT will manage the sports facilities for use by students and citizens, while the Municipality will take over the management of the rest of the facilities, including the sports museum to be erected.
