Meeting of a delegation of the Hellenic Navy and the Hellenic Naval Academy with the Mayor of Limassol, Mr Nicos Nicolaides

The Mayor of Limasol, Mr Nicos Nicolaides met on Thursday, 23/08/2018 with the current Commander of the Cyprus Naval Command Mr Charalambos Charalambous, Captain Athanasios Spanos (Commanding Officer of the HS PROMETHEUS) and Lieutenant Commander Dimitris Plakias representative of the Hellenic Naval Academy within the framework of a ceremonial visit to Limassol.

The HS PROMETHEUS navy ship sailed to Limassol for an official visit from 23-26 August 2018 as part of the annual training session of the Naval Academy.

The Mayor, after welcoming the Navy delegation at the Town Hall, referred to the various aspects of the history and relationship between the Municipality of Limassol and the sea and maritime activities. He further mentioned the plans for the creation of a naval museum in Limassol, which will be highlighting the relationship of Cyprus with the sea since prehistoric times, thus showcasing the maritime education in our country.

Finally, commemorative gifts were exchanged.
