Ways to facilitate people travelling to and from Limassol, additional support for local businesses and employees affected by the restrictive measures, diversification of provisions of the Decrees through consultation with stakeholders, strengthening public security and establishing direct communication and coordination mechanisms with services are what the Mayors of wider Limassol and the productive bodies of the city suggest to the government.

These are the conclusions of yesterday’s teleconference between Limassol district Mayors and city bodies, during which the effects of the restrictive measures on the issues of social cohesion and the economic activity of Limassol were reviewed. It was stressed that the implementation of the necessary measures to protect public health creates in fact a number of practical issues that need to be addressed and to this end, call on the government to proceed to immediate consultations. The objective, he added, is on the one hand to constraint COVID-19 and on the other hand to reduce the social and economic impact so that Limassol can recover as quickly as possible from the crisis. It was also decided to continue the coordination of actions between them to better deal with the effects of the pandemic.

The Limassol Mayor will be addressing a letter to the competent Ministers informing them of the details of the above suggestions.
