E-meeting between Limassol Mayor and representatives of foreign nationals
The Mayor of Limassol, Mr Nicos Nicolaides, held a teleconference on Friday with groups representing foreign nationals in Limassol and the Intercultural Council.
The Mayor convened the e-meeting, which was attended by Municipal officials, members of the Limassol Intercultural Council and groups representing foreign nationals to coordinate on matters relating to the prevention of the spread of COVID-19 with third country nationals living in Limassol. It should be noted that the representatives of the intercultural cities of Erlangen in Germany and Lublin in Poland also took part in the teleconference to discuss and share practices and experiences of their countries.
A number of proposals with reference to a more effective communication with the aforementioned groups and measures to limit the spread of Coronavirus were put on the table. Additionally, the problems of vulnerable groups of foreigners and immigrants were also discussed, while good practices from other intercultural cities were taken into consideration. In the teleconference, it was decided to set up a multicultural team to resolve translation-related matters and the distribution of information material in various languages spoken in Limassol.
The above meeting followed another teleconference held on 2/4/2020 with about 60 representatives of the Russian community in Limassol. Click on the links below to watch the recorded conferences.
