Teleconference between Mayors and Municipal Officials of Limassol and Ioannina

Funded by the Intercultural Cities programme of the Council of Europe, the Municipalities of Limassol and Ioannina, are successfully ending a joint project under the title “Intercultural twinning: cultural diversity for inclusive growth».

In the framework of this project, the two municipalities, twinned since 1984 and both members of the ICC network, have proceeded with a series of information and consultation activities with a wide range of stakeholders, encouraging them to discuss the advantages of cultural diversity and its role in social dialogue in post-pandemic era. The project brought together the Municipal officials, businesses representatives, chambers of commerce, labour unions, (development, youth and migrants’) NGOs, universities and intercultural councils, aiming on this way at the development of permanent social dialogue platforms, where the diversity is seen as a comparative advantage of modern cities.

The culmination of the cooperation between the two Municipalities will be a joint tele-conference which will be held on   Wednesday, 16^th December 2020 between 11:30 and 12:00. The Mayors of Ioannina Dr Moses Elisaf and the Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Nicos Nicolaides, accompanied by other municipal officials, will proceed with adoption of Joint Declaration with the title: «Cultural Diversity as an advantage for economic development and social cohesion», and thus with a symbolical, “intercultural” twinning of the two cities.

The tele-conference will be held mainly in Greek language and will be open for the public and media.
