City Council votes in favour of 2020 Municipal Budget
The 2020 Municipal Budget was approved by the Limassol Municipality City Council over a meeting held yesterday.
In his statements, the Mayor of Limassol, Nicos Nicolaides, mentioned the following:
“I would like to thank the Deputy Mayor and all the City Councillors for the cooperation we had these past few years and for the cooperation that I am sure we will have in the coming years.
The Municipality’s Budgets and the management of our city affairs are a collective matter of the City Council and are based on a community of goals, the most important of which is the interest of the city and the service of our citizens.
I would also like to thank the Municipal Secretary and the Municipal Officers for their contribution and professional consistency in implementing the decisions of the Municipal Council.
The 2020 Budget reflects a well-ordered Municipality that operates on the basis of sound administration. The budget is in balance and in surplus, with revenues amounting to €49.2 million and expenses of €43 million. Development spending is at a high level for another year and stands at €29.5 million.
Through the 2020 Budget, our Municipality promotes projects related to the achievement of its strategic goals:
1. To expand the development of Limassol district and its neighbourhoods within the framework of our philosophy for a comprehensive and universal development of the city.
2. To modernise the Municipal Engine to better serve the citizens.
3. To upgrade our city’s landmarks such as the Old Market, Heroes’ square, GSO and the Municipal Garden.
4. To strengthen the social policy of the Municipality through programs for vulnerable population groups and promote projects for affordable and social housing.
5. To upgrade cultural events and support our Artists and Culture.
The 2020 Budget expresses our vision and strategy for a modern city, focusing on prosperity and life quality, pioneering growth and entrepreneurship, culture and social cohesion.”
