Ways to strengthen links were discussed between the Mayor of Limassol and the Chinese Ambassador.

The Mayor of Limassol Mr. Nicos Nicolaides and the new Ambassador of China to Cyprus, Mr. Liu Yanhao, agreed today, to the promotion of common actions for the strengthening of relations between Limassol and China within the framework of a ceremonial conference with Mr.Yanhao at Limassol Town Hall.

Mr. Nicolaides stated that Limassol hosts many “friends from China, an active community of our city, with whom we have excellent relations”

Mr. Nicos Nicolaides reminded that before the pandemic common events were organized, such as the Chinese Cultural Festival, and expressed the hope that soon a restart will be given to these common activities with the Chinese community.
 
Furthermore, the Mayor continued, we are planning the twinning of Limassol with another Chinese city, in addition with the existing Chinese town Nanjing (24 September 1992) twinned with Limassol, and noted that he discussed with the Chinese Ambassador ways of practical application of these decisions in a variety of sectors such as tourism, culture, civilization, innovation, Blue Economy etc.

Additionally, with the opportunity of fifty years since the establishment of  diplomatic relations between China and Cyprus, the Municipality of Limassol will participate in the celebrations through various internet celebrations and films, while there is a thought of having a common event after the Summer in Limassol.
